Promoting creativity, imagination and personal growth
For over 20 years, the Chester Playhouse has provided opportunities for young people to explore the world of acting with helping hands from professionals. While learning the art of acting and the craft of theatre, students have the opportunity to experience working both solo and as a part of a team. During productions, every child has the opportunity to perform on the Chester Playhouse Stage in front of a live audience.
First time performers and returning students are welcome.
The Chester Playhouse is pleased to offer a “no child turned away policy”, with financial support to enable youth to participate in Playhouse Programs from the following sources:
Alexander Fleming Pattillo Memorial Foundation, which honours Alex’s love for theatre.
2020 Programs will include our long-running Summer Theatre School. This year’s selected production will be announced in early spring and registration will take place in the spring. The fee of $600 will include 4 weeks of rehearsals under the direction of Jesse MacLean.
Recent past productions include:
2019: The Adventures of Pinocchio
2018: Mary Poppins Jr.
2017: Robin Hood: The Legendary Musical Comedy
2016: Damn Yankees
2015 The Drowsy Chaperone
Three presentations in our 2020 season are specifically designed for youth and families:
Watch for other announcements of programs for youth, both to involve our young people in the creation of productions and to entertain the community. And bring us your requests and ideas by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
We are considering a variety of options for youth programming. If there is something you would be particularly interested in – such as a several week program or weekend workshops- we would love to hear from you. Please share any requests or ideas you might have and know that the Playhouse is committed to youth programming. Watch this space for offerings as they are finalized.
